10.8.2020 | Surveillance Technologies and Corona Virus
Since the COVID 19 outbreak spreading like a wild-fire, governments from across the globe implemented new policies to curb the spread of it.
In addition to closing borders to non-citizens, many governments have also mobilized digital surveillance technologies to track and contain visitors and citizens alike.
Some governments are using electronic waistbands which can show the location of the suspects and if it detects changes in the person’s location, it will alert the Department of Health and the police. Some are using lockdown policies with the surveillance help from the drones in order to make sure no more citizens will contract the disease anymore.
While these technologies and measures may effective in preventing the spread of the virus, once the pandemic subsides we must remain mindful and vigilant of those technologies as in the wrong hands, disasters can happen.
