Facebook is pushing further into the hardware industry by building a smartwatch which it plans to start selling within 2022 as reported by Business Insider on 12 February, 2021.

The watch will prioritize features that people use Facebook’s family of apps to send messages to each other, as well as integrations with health and fitness products from companies like Peloton, according to the report.

Facebook watch will access the internet via a cellular connection, meaning it won’t need to be paired with a smartphone and will run on an open-source version of Google’s Android. However Facebook seems to be wants to eventually build its own operating system according to the reports.
