Emojipedia has analyzed more than 200,000 Twitter messages on March 7th and 8th, containing the word coronavirus or COVID.

According to the Daily Mail, two laughing emoticons with tears in their eyes were most commonly used in this period, followed by a face with a veil, a thoughtful smiley and a microbe.

The list of the most used emoticons on Twitter was then supplemented by a tearful face, a police beacon and a warning.

Laughing faces are at the top of the ladder even under normal circumstances. According to Emojipedia, however, users are now using it primarily to alleviate the situation and to deal with a pandemic with ease.
