11.6.2021 | Google will make it harder to track Android users from Apps

The Financial Times reported that Google is notifying developers about new protections for Android users who opt out of sharing the device-specific Advertising ID which lets companies track users across apps.

You can already curb ad tracking and reset your Advertising ID, but developers have had ways to work around these restrictions. With the new protection method, if the developers try to access the ID of someone who declined tracking, they’ll get a “string of zeros” rather than useful info.

The new protections will be phased in, reportedly starting with Android 12 devices in late 2021 and reaching all Google Play Store-capable devices in the early 2022.
