4.6.2020 | Amazon, Target and Apple all close down their stores due to massive protests over George Floyd’s Tragedy

Bloomberg has reported that “due to protests over George Floyd’s death, Amazon, Target, and Apple all made modifications to their business operations in this weekend”.

Amazon told Bloomberg that they’ve adjusted and re-scaled the routes in some cities to ensure their worker’s safety. Drivers in Chicago and Los Angeles have received messages on Sunday: which instructs them to stop delivering packages and to return home.

Target has closed a total of 32 of its stores in the Minneapolis area and will temporally close more shops across the country. Apple has kept many of its stores closed on Sunday, including the ones that have just re-opened after closing for several weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minneapolis is the site of some of the largest protest sites for the tragedy of George Floyd: whose death was due to a Minneapolis police officer after kneeling on his neck for several minutes. The officer was later fired and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
