The developers have been working on WhatsApp dark mode for over two years. They tried to ensure the best readability and hierarchy of information.

So they chose colors that would minimize eye fatigue while matching the iOS and Android color schemes.

Furthermore, it was crucial for users to naturally focus their attention on important parts of the screen and not distract them from less relevant parts of the display. And that is what guarantees the right choice of colors and other design elements.

Now they've made it all perfect and have released the new version of the app. And you can activate dark mode.

If you have Android 10 or iOS 13, turn it on in the system's dark mode setting. If you have Android 9, you can turn it on directly in the app under Chats - Themes.
