20.4.2021 | Sony wants to bring 'popular' PlayStation game franchises to phones

Sony hasn't done much with PlayStation game franchises unless you count one-offs like Uncharted: Fortune Hunter, but that might change soon. Eurogamer has noticed that Sony is hiring an executive at PlayStation Studios that would focus on bringing PlayStation's "most popular franchises" to mobile.

While the listing unsurprisingly doesn't mention titles or timeframes, the new Head of Mobile would develop a three- to five-year strategy.

Sony being interested in expanding its market to Mobile games is not a surprise itself. If they could make their most popular franchises available to a wider audiences, they can reap back profits in the forms of in-app purchses. For example, Fortnite, PUBG and Roblox relies heavily on their mobile gamers in order to become successful and because of that, we will have to wait and see if Sony could bring their most popular titles like Horizon Zero Dawn on our mobile devices in the near future.
