11.8.2020 | Google will leave its employees in the home office until the summer of 2021
Google employees stay at home for a total of one and a half years.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai extended the home office until the summer of 2021.
Google staff left their offices in March due to a coronavirus pandemic. Originally, they were supposed to return to nothing at the beginning of next year, but they will eventually work from home until July 2021.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai extended the home office regime mainly because of employees who may be waiting for home schooling with their children next school year as well. It wants to allow them to plan for the long term.
However, this option only applies to workers who can do their work out of the office and voluntarily choose to stay at home.
Deferred return will affect most large branches in the US, the UK and India. So far, only offices in the areas least affected by the coronavirus remain open. These include, for example, Australia or Greece.
