19.6.2021 | Amazon is implementing robots and hopes to reduce worker injuries
According to endgadget.com – Amazon has implementing several types of robots and other technologies at its warehouses to reduce strain on workers and injuries.
Amazon hopes that these projects and other efforts will help it reach a goal of cutting warehouse “recordable incidents” in half by 2025. These efforts might help reduce injuries, but they also reinforce complaints that Amazon is relying more on tech to improve working conditions than meaningful policy changes.
New York state also accused Amazon of not only discregarding COVID-19 safety, but of retaliating against workers who raised concerns. Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos has also defended the policies which potentially contribute to injuries such as real-world limitations on time spent sway from work tasks.
